Do you at times feel that you have put too much time and energy into people, places or things in your life? Those things or people succeed in draining you, so much so that as soon as you try to recover, something else comes along and the draining starts all over again. Or maybe you put your trust in someone, and they didn’t live up to their word or your expectations. It might be a job which took you for granted. Just think of how this was all due to you putting your faith in people or things. We should all know that in this world today, and it’s sad to say, but putting your hope and faith in people or things leaves you with pain and disappointment toward people and even yourself. It even sometimes leads to internal scaring, and disenchantment with your fellow human being and possibly with your own life.
Psalms 146:3 says, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” We are always trying to have things that we shouldn’t have. We ask the Lord for it and we don’t look for God to bless us with what He knows is for the best. Even Christians in the Bible have done the same thing. Take a look at James 4:1-10, “1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith
in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto
the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
The Bible also says to lean not to your own understanding. Most of the problems we experience in life are due to us trying to lead ourselves. I call it self inflicted wounding, in which you try to put the blame on someone else, in an effort to make yourself feel a false sense of control of your life. As the children of the Lord Jesus Christ, we must live in the world, but let the world see us as the model of the way Christ wants us to live in this cruel world. You are the light of this world when you have the Holy Ghost inside of you.
1 John 2:15-18 says, “15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”
I’ll also leave with with these last two scriptures:
1 John 5:13-15
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that yemay know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have
the petitions that we desired of him.
Romans 15:13
13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
It is So in Jesus name!
