Are You Being Tossed?

Ephesians 4:11-16

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

I believe most of us have been on or seen a ship being tossed about by a lake or sea. It looks like whatever direction the water would move, the ship or object would move in that direction. Even if the rudder is being steered in the opposite direction, the waves will continue to drive the ship or object in the direction of the wind. Now you must understand that the waves are being directed by the force of the wind and at anytime, the wind can change it’s direction. It goes where it wants to. You can see these results with some of the outrigger sail boats with sails. One moment the sailors would lift the sails and wind and waves would move the ship in the direction of the rocky shore. The look out would sound the alarm, then the captain would tell the crew to lower the sail because the waves and wind would push them toward the rocky shore! Same way in your natural life, it is in your Christian walk. Have we even heard the voice of God say “that’s not My Word, that’s not Me,” but instead had been like a sponge so long that we had a bit of everything in us that we really can’t hear the captain say “take down your sail, you’re headed for confusion, you’re headed for some jacked up mess!” Then He tries to tell you to drop anchor so that your mind won’t be blown away!
John 3:1-8
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God:for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born    when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
We can not lean to our own understanding. We have to trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5).

You’re held accountable for every word that’s not His Word that has caused people you have talked to, to fall short of the glory God. Jesus wants us to take that sponge, which is us, and squeeze and or press that confused word out of us by being transform by the renewing our minds (Romans 12:2).
