11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1 Corinthians 13:11-13
Take a moment to think back when you were young. Do you remember when you use to say things like this to your siblings, friends or classmate, “I hate you,” or “I can’t stand your guts.” Maybe something far worse like “I which you just go away and never come back,” or “leave me alone before I hurt you.” When you think about it we all use to say some awful things to our siblings, friends and family. Now looking back, there are some things we do regret that we’ve said or done when we didn’t have to. Come to think of it, our lack of understanding of what words can do to a person, just doesn’t effect the body only but their soul. It really creates in them some of the principles of their heart today. That’s why we have to be very conscientious of what words come out of our mouths because those words are shaping the heart of that individual; maybe even for life. The Bible tells us in the book of Colossians 4:5-6, 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. and in the book of
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Matthew 12:33-37
So in any course of action in life concerning another person, one should remember that they are not a child anymore. In all you say or do try to do in love; not out of emotional motivation, which may contain other elements other than love, such as pride, jealousy, vengeance, anger and spiritual disillusionment. So in all situations let your words be few and seasoned with grace and understanding.
In my conclusion, remember from out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
James 1:26-27
